Dallas Fed establishes Energy Advisory Council
For Immediate Release: March 12, 2018
DALLAS—The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas today announced the establishment of an Energy Advisory Council to advise the Bank on emerging trends and issues affecting various sectors of the energy industry.
Council members will provide their views regarding global supply and demand for crude oil, natural gas, refined products and alternative sources of energy, as well as the attendant impact on energy prices and implications for inflation, employment and capital expenditures in the U.S. economy.
The council will consist of up to 10 members appointed by the president of the Bank and will be drawn primarily from the ranks of energy industry executives who work within the Eleventh Federal Reserve District, which includes Texas, southern New Mexico and northern Louisiana. Energy industry executives who serve as members of the Bank or branch boards will also be invited to participate in discussions with the Energy Advisory Council.
“The Dallas Fed plays a unique role in conducting economic research and provides key insights into the impact of the energy sector on the U.S. and world economies,” said Dallas Fed President Rob Kaplan. “The concentration of superb energy-related companies in the Eleventh District provides us with a unique perspective which helps inform our research as well as our views on the global economic impact of the energy sector.”
