Dallas Fed provides professional development opportunities for Texas economics, social studies and CTE teachers

DALLAS— Each summer, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas offers a full slate of professional development events for educators at various locations throughout Texas.

These programs provide economics, social studies and CTE (career and technical education) teachers an opportunity to deepen their knowledge, preview classroom resources and earn professional development credit. Here is what some past participants had to say about the events:

For 2017, these programs include the following:

Personal Financial Literacy: Prepares educators to teach the course on personal financial literacy now required in Texas.

Economic Summit: A collaborative effort of the National Archives and the Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia and St. Louis, this conference will focus on the interaction between government and the economy.
Dallas, June 27–29
Credit: 18 hours | Cost: $25

U.S. History Through an Economic Lens: This interactive workshop will give ample time to explore the economic concepts, share best practices with other participants and experience lesson demonstrations.
San Antonio, July 12–13
Credit: 12 hours | Cost: $25

International Marketplace: Applicable to multiple subjects, this annual conference examines the impact of global markets on the world and U.S. economies.
Houston, July 20
Credit: 6 hours | Cost: $15

Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow: This conference is a collaborative effort between the Dallas Fed, Education Service Center Region 19, the El Paso area school districts and a number of workforce partners. The event will focus on the shape of the developing job market and showcase some of the latest updates for CTE educators.
