The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas offers RSS feeds, which allow you to receive news and other updates via an online reader. Feeds are available for the following Dallas Fed features. Instructions for subscribing to the feeds are provided below.

What is an RSS feed?

RSS, or really simple syndication, is an XML-based format for distributing web content. Users subscribe to RSS feeds using online readers or aggregators, which display the links, headlines and brief synopses of the contents from multiple feeds. For a more in-depth explanation, visit Wikipedia .

What do I need to do to get your RSS feeds?

First of all, you need an RSS reader or aggregator. Searching for "RSS feed readers" on any good search engine will provide a host of options, many of which are provided free. (See side bar for some of the more popular options).

Once you've obtained a reader, click on any of the buttons above. You'll get a page with a lot of web code on it, but ignore that and just copy the URL you see in the address bar. Paste this address into the appropriate area of your reader for adding feeds. Your reader should automatically retrieve and display the feed's content.

How will RSS feeds help me?

RSS saves you time and bandwidth. Instead of having to visit a web site over and over for updates, you can use RSS to have the news come directly to your RSS reader.

RSS feeds don't require a lengthy download process. Since they contain just links, headlines or a brief synopsis of the information, the data can be sent to any XML-compatible device—a computer, PDA or even a cell phone.
