Texas Employment Update

The Texas economy expanded robustly in April; the state added 31,300 jobs. Year to date, Texas has gained 87,300 jobs (Table 1).

The Dallas Fed improves the Bureau of Labor Statistics' (BLS) payroll employment estimates for Texas by incorporating preliminary benchmarks into the data in a more timely manner and by using a two-step seasonal adjustment technique. Current Dallas Fed data are benchmarked through fourth quarter 2012. BLS data are benchmarked through third quarter 2012.
