Edwin Lai joined the Dallas Fed's Research Department in September 2007. Before that he was a full-time faculty member at Vanderbilt University, City University of Hong Kong and Singapore Management University, respectively. Lai has been a consultant to the World Bank, a visiting scholar with Boston University and a visiting fellow with Princeton University. He got his B.S. in engineering from University of Hong Kong and M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University.
Lai's main research areas are international economics, economic development and growth, and industrial organization. He is also interested in studying the economies of East Asia and China. He has published in American Economic Review, International Economic Review, Journal of International Economics and other respected journals in economics.
