Manoj Saxena appointed to Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' San Antonio Branch board

DALLAS—The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas has appointed Manoj Saxena of Austin to the Bank's San Antonio Branch board of directors.  He will serve a three-year term ending Dec. 31, 2014.

In his role as a board member, Saxena will provide input on regional economic conditions as part of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy functions.

Saxena has held numerous leadership positions at IBM and currently serves as general manager of IBM Watson Solutions.  He is responsible for the commercialization efforts of IBM's Watson technology globally.

Prior to joining IBM in 2006, Saxena was a member of the IT venture capital community and led two software companies, including Webify, which was acquired by IBM.  He was previously with 3M Company.

He serves on the boards of Any Baby Can, Austin Technology Council and the Saxena Foundation. Saxena also serves on the advisory boards for Global Giving and Michigan State University's Center for Venture Capital, Private Equity and Entrepreneurial Finance.

Saxena holds a master's degree in business administration from Michigan State University and a master's in management sciences from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science in Pilani, India.

Saxena holds two U.S. patents for web services technologies.

The San Antonio Branch board consists of seven members, four appointed by the Dallas Fed board and three by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.
