Dallas Fed releases exchange rate indexes for all 50 states

For immediate release: March 30, 2011

DALLAS—The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas today released a new set of indexes measuring real trade-weighted exchange rates for each of the 50 U.S. states.

The indexes calculate the inflation-adjusted value of the U.S. dollar against the currencies of countries with which each state trades.

The indexes are available at the following link: www.dallasfed.org/research/data/rtwvd/index.cfm

The state-level indexes, which the Dallas Fed will publish monthly, should provide a more precise measure of the exchange rate movements most important to state economies.
