Dallas Fed Forum Spotlights Challenges Faced by Entrepreneurs in Recession

DALLAS—Supporting and growing small businesses in the current recession is the subject of an upcoming Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas forum.

“Entrepreneurship in the Changing Economy: From Survival to Sustainability” will be 12 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on October 14 at the Dallas Fed, 2200 N. Pearl St.

Additional information about the forum can be found on the Dallas Fed website: http://dallasfed.org/news/ca/2009/09entre.cfm

This forum will examine the importance of entrepreneurship to the economy, challenges that small businesses face in the current recession and strategies that organizations are using to promote entrepreneurship.

“Small businesses are vital to the U.S. economy,” said Alfreda B. Norman, Dallas Fed assistant vice president and community affairs officer. “This conference will bring together leaders from the entrepreneurship field who will discuss how they help small businesses adapt to the changing economy.”

National and state perspectives will be presented by the Kauffman Foundation, Aspen Institute, Small Business Administration and University of Texas System.  Local leaders will examine the effect of economic trends on their clients, identify resources available to urban and rural entrepreneurs, and discuss public policies that can support entrepreneurship.
