Romo Reappointed to Dallas Fed's San Antonio Branch Board

DALLAS—The Federal Reserve Board of Governors has reappointed Dr. Ricardo Romo to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' San Antonio Branch. He will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2008.

Romo was first appointed to the San Antonio Branch board in 2005 and served as chairman pro tem in 2007.

Romo has served as president of the University of Texas at San Antonio since 1999. Previously, he was vice provost for undergraduate education at UT–Austin. He also has held positions at Trinity University; California State University, Northridge; and University of California, San Diego.

In 2002, President Bush appointed Romo to the President's Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Romo received a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, master of arts from Loyola Marymount University and bachelor of science from UT–Austin, all in history.

An urban historian, Romo is the author of East Los Angeles: History of a Barrio.

The San Antonio Branch board consists of seven members, four appointed by the Dallas Fed board and three by the Federal Reserve System Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.
