Richter and Gorges Appointed, Hastings Reappointed
to Board of Directors at Dallas Fed's San Antonio Branch

DALLAS—Elizabeth Chu Richter and Matt F. Gorges have been appointed to three-year terms on the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' San Antonio Branch board of directors. Daniel B. Hastings Jr. has been reappointed to a three-year term on the same board.

Richter was named a San Antonio director by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. She is chairman and CEO of Richter Architects, an award-winning architectural firm based in Corpus Christi. Richter Architects received national recognition in 1999, winning an AIA Honor Award for Architecture from the American Institute of Architects.

Richter is the creator and executive producer of The Shape of Texas, a statewide radio series on architecture. She is vice president of the Texas Society of Architects and a member of the American Institute of Architects. Additionally, she serves on Corpus Christi’s Planning Commission and as a trustee for the South Texas Institute for the Arts. Previously, she served as chairman of the South Texas Public Broadcasting System. Richter received a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Gorges was appointed by the Dallas Fed board of directors. He is president and CEO of Harlingen-based Valley International Cold Storage, Inc. In addition, he is involved in other food-industry related-businesses, including shrimp processing, easy-to-prepare food products for home consumption and farming. He is a member of the Harlingen Rotary Club and serves as chairman of the Gladys Porter Zoo Endowment Committee. Previously, he served as a trustee for Rice University and on the board of directors of the First National Bank of Harlingen and Texas Commerce Bank in Brownsville. He received a B.A. in economics and finance from Rice University.

Hastings was reappointed by the Dallas Fed board of directors. He has served on the San Antonio board since 2001. Hastings is president of Daniel B. Hastings, Inc., a U.S. Customs brokerage firm located in Laredo. Hastings serves on the boards of Laredo Development Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Laredo, Texas A&M University’s Graduate School of International Trade and Business Administration, Southwest Texas State University’s Latin America Business Program and the International Bank of Commerce. He holds a B.S. from Southwest Texas State University.

The San Antonio board of directors consists of seven members, four appointed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas board of directors and three by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.
