- KERA (Channel 13) and KERA-FM have launched a yearlong, multimedia project called The Economy that aims to provide hope and bring help to the thousands of North Texans undergoing tough economic challenges. At 8 p.m. July 22, KERA will broadcast a one-hour program examining the impact unemployment and the recession are having on the lives of area residents. The program will feature a local HUD-approved housing counselor, a lending industry representative and other experts. - The Texas Department of Banking continues its statewide tour of one-day Train-the-Trainer financial education workshops on Aug. 19 in Dallas and Nov. 4 in Lubbock. Workshops will provide hands-on training in the Dallas Fed Building Wealth, FDIC Money Smart and Junior Achievement curriculums.
