Economics Boot Camp
For 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year High School Economics Teachers
Summer 2008

This two-and-a-half-day workshop was designed for economics teachers with little training or experience who wanted to gain a solid understanding of economic concepts and principles. Master teachers and economic education specialists provided the content and reviewed effective teaching strategies.

Participants received conference materials and professional development certificates.

About the Speakers

Sally Dickson
AP Economics Consultant
College Board

Dickson taught standard and advanced-placement economics at Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas. She served as an AP economics reader for eight years and has been a College Board lead consultant for AP workshops and summer institutes for the past 11 years.

A presenter at national conferences, Dickson also coauthored “Advanced Placement and TEKS: A Lighthouse Initiative for Texas Social Studies Classrooms,” developing economics curriculum materials for grades 6–11. Under a U.S. Department of Education grant, she coauthored the “Virtual Workshop for Economics Teachers” at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. In 2003, Dickson received the Special Recognition Award from the Southwest region of the College Board.

She earned a B.A. from Southern Methodist University, an M.S. from the University of Houston at Clear Lake and a Texas principal certification. Dickson served last year as director of teacher professional development at Rice University’s Glasscock School of Continuing Studies.

Robbie Moses
Economic Education Coordinator
Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch

Moses came to the Fed in January 2006 after teaching economics and government at a Houston Independent School District magnet high school. She previously taught at Alvin (Texas) Community College and served as adjunct professor at Houston Baptist University and at Schreiner College in Kerrville, Texas.

A former banker, Moses is a Stonier Graduate School of Banking graduate. She has served as reader for the College Board’s AP U.S. Government and Politics Exam and as Project Citizen district coordinator for the Center for Civic Education. She holds an M.S. and a Ph.D. from the University of Houston.

Princeton Williams
Senior Economic Education Specialist
Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas

Williams joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas as senior economic education specialist in 2006. Before coming to the Bank, he taught economics, advanced-placement macroeconomics and AP microeconomics at Paschal High School in Fort Worth. As lead AP economics teacher for the Fort Worth Independent School District, Williams coauthored the district’s economics curriculum, mentored new economics teachers and conducted citywide review sessions for AP students.

Williams interned in the economic and market analysis division of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development during his graduate studies. He is an adjunct instructor of economics at the Dallas–Fort Worth campus of Concordia University Texas.

Williams received a B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University and an M.A. in economics from the University of Texas at Arlington.
